Portrait of Oana Lang

I am a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Babeș-Bolyai University. My research lies in stochastic analysis, with particular emphasis on nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations and their connections with fluid dynamics, filtering, and data assimilation.

Before joining Babeș-Bolyai University in 2024, I was a Research Associate at Imperial College London within the ERC Synergy project Stochastic Transport in Upper Ocean Dynamics (STUOD). I completed my PhD in Mathematics at Imperial College London in 2020.

My research focuses on stochastic transport models, nonlinear SPDEs, and problems arising in geophysical fluid dynamics, with additional interests in nonlinear filtering and data assimilation.

At UBB I supervise undergraduate and Master's projects and collaborate on problems in stochastic analysis, SPDEs, stochastic fluid dynamics, nonlinear filtering, and related topics. I also contribute to European research networks in stochastic analysis.

Stochastic transport SPDEs

Well-posedness, regularity, global solutions, and stochastic stabilisation for nonlinear equations from fluid dynamics.

Fractional noise and memory

Pathwise methods, fractional Brownian transport noise, Hurst parameter estimation, and memory-driven dynamics.

Filtering and data assimilation

Nonlinear filtering, high-dimensional data assimilation, noise calibration, and data-informed stochastic models.

Geophysical fluid dynamics

Stochastic Euler, great lake, rotating shallow water, and related multiscale models for ocean and climate dynamics.
